Here's a bit about us and what we offer here......

Mission

Community Enrichment through the Arts by providing opportunities to discover, explore and experience the arts.

Exhibitions

Our 1905 Neoclassical Revival building is a beautiful showcase for exhibitions which feature regionally and nationally known artists. The exhibitions demonstrate a wide variety of media and styles designed to present a diverse body of creative expression. We incorporate programs such as gallery talks, artist demonstrations and workshops to familiarize the public with the artist's work, background and technique.

Events

Each year we host three major events. The largest is the South Haven Summer Art Fair which features over 120 artists and takes place each year on the first Sunday in July. During the fall holidays we have the Mistletoe Market - a festive holiday art and gift market - and in the spring we gather for The Spring Gala dinner and auction.

We also present events that fill the building with the sounds of Celtic music, Brazilian jazz, blues, folk music, comic opera ballet, classical music, Brazilian percussion, Latin American folk songs and story telling. If you want to be reminded about upcoming events then become a member and get on our email list!

Education

For adults we offer classes and workshops lasting one to three days. In the summer we host the Center Studio drop-in classes to give youngsters a range of exciting experiences making art and discovering their own creative talents. Center Studio has four one hour classes, Tuesday through Friday, for six weeks.

History

The South Haven Art Association is a 501(c)3 with a d/b/a as South Haven Center for the Arts. We are housed in a Neoclassical Revival edifice erected in 1905 which housed the public library until 1959. From 1988 until 1990, with the help of the community, and funds from the City of South Haven, the State of Michigan and many private supporters the building was remodeled and re-created into a vibrant Art Center.
